Freelance User Researcher
A user researcher works with existing and potential users of a product to gather information from them using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods. Some of the methods I use include:
Qualitative User Research - Ethnographic research, Persona development, Usability testing facilitation and design (lab and remote user testing), User/Stakeholder contextual interviews, Scenario/Task/Customer Journey Mapping
Quantitative User Research - A/B & Multivariate Testing, Analytics, Card Sorting/Tree Testing, Survey Design & Analysis
What Do You Do As A Freelance User Researcher?
In my career as a freelance user researcher (or user experience researcher), I’ve worked on dozens of UX research projects, spent countless hours talking to strangers while my team watches on behind a one-way mirror and done more than my fair share of head-scratching delving deep into analytics packages such as Google Analytics.
I design and facilitate research sessions with users and stakeholders to understand what makes them tick and their needs and pain points. I then conduct a rigorous analysis of the data to produce actionable insights which I can feedback to the team and help them in their work.
